Default Screamin' Eagle Equipment/Vance&Hines - 2006 HD Sportster 1200 Review

Review:

I picked up my 2006 HD Sportster 1200 Low new off the showroom floor with 1 mile on the odometer. I ended up going for the Screamin' Eagle Stage 1 kit.

They delivered the bike to my house on a cold February day, well before I even had my M-Class license. Well, I took the bike out every day anyway . She purred nicely, rode smoothly. I guess I should have rode the bike before to find out what it was like stock, compared to after the modifications!

The filter, carb jet, and slip-ons were included in the S1 kit. Well, after a month, the slip-ons were NOT loud enough... so I ended up going with Vance and Hines Short Shot Staggars. This really woke up the bike. The sound was pure bliss. After that installation, I ended up going with the Screamin' Eagle Ignition Module, which raised the RPMs up to 7,000. Right after picking it up, I sent it right back in to have the forward controls + 2" installed. This really improved my seating position for being 6' on a Sporty.

I went for a cruise with a few buddies on sport bikes. We hit the highway... and I am proud to say, the little sportster ended up going 140 (indicated on a CBR600 speedo) before I had some nasty bar death shake. So I shut it down. A few weeks later, I ended up taking it to the track. I ran a 12.1 in the 1/4. Not too bad for a Harley! I progressively played around and was now able to wheelie in 1st gear... once again, not bad for a Harley!

Well... I sold it, traded for a GSXR 1000.

In the end, I wish I kept the bike, would make a perfect cruiser. The sound was perfect, the speed was there when you needed it, and the overall look was mean. Black/Chrome.

Great write up Jimbo...140 eh? That's pretty impressive for a sportster...on a highway in Mexico right?

If you hadn't bought the Gixxer do you think you'd still be riding it? I'm sure it was much harder to wheelie and therefore it was safer ha ha

I would still be riding it today if I had it. That bike had great power, had great looks, and rode very comfortably.
