Default Harley Davidson Men's Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket Review

Harley Davidson Men's Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket Review - 8/31/08

Harley Davidson is a very diverse company that not only has multiple motorcycles designed to suit a wide variety of people but also has accessories made for just about anyone and everyone. As a matter of fact, a visit to their site quickly reveals that they offer Men’s accessories in thirteen different categories for a total of about 746 products. So how does one choose a jacket?

Simple, pick the one that sounds the best/coolest and go with it. So today I will review the Harley Davidson Men’s Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket for GearEval.com.

Manufacturer’s Description/Details:

Midweight leather jacket with mandarin collar, fixed poly lining and removable quilted vest lining. Channel venting system distributes airflow to cool the core body temperature. Body armor pockets, action back, zippered cuffs with snap and slightly pre-curved sleeves. Adjustable snap tabs at waist. Two zippered hand-warmer pockets and two inside pockets. Custom hardware. Colorblock detail with leather appliqués and embroideries on front, back, and sleeves.

Fit:

The fit of this Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket is good but keep in mind that the general consensus on the market is that this jacket runs small. So please do yourself a favor and buy a size larger than you normally would in other jackets.

Construction/Finish:

The Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket is constructed with very nice supple leather. The craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout. The finish of the jacket is basically perfect (keep in mind we are talking about leather here). It is pretty evident that Harley uses only quality manufacturers and materials in this jacket.

As stated by Harley Davidson, this is a medium weight leather, which is intended for cooler weather but could be used in slightly warmer weather, which is consistent with the number of vents, provided (more on that later).

The predominant color is black, but orange is definitely there, and white is used somewhat sparingly. The front and back both say Harley Davidson Motorcycles, but the back has the Harley logo while the font does not. The right sleeve says Harley Davidson and the left says Motorcycles. There are also patches on each shoulder, the Harley logo on the left and the right contains an oval with the “world’s greatest sport” within it. All of the lettering appears to be of separate materials that were likely first glued to the jacket and later sawn in. The quality of this work is impeccable.

Features:

As stated above the Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket has a nice venting system which Harley refers to as channel. The flow of air is about as expected from a sturdy leather jacket – decent for what it is, but this is no “mesh” jacket and obviously the leather is not perforated. Still for anything less than 80 degrees and blaring sun, you should be able to comforatbly get around.

The Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket also has a nice fixed liner as well as a removable quilted vest liner. Both of these are welcome and somewhat expected features.

Protection:

The Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket features body armor at the elbows and forearms. I think this is light but then again I am used to much heavier protection on my sportbike gear.

Comfort:

The Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket is comfortable.

Conclusion:

The Harley Davidson Classic Cruiser Leather Jacket is a great piece that can be found for reasonable money at thus making it a bargain. Keep in mind that you will likely need to order a size up and be prepared to get appraoched by a lot of people since you can be sure that no one will mistake what it is you are doing in this jacket.

It fits nicely, tried one on before I went with my other Harley Jacket.
