Default Yamaha XS650 Petcock help

I have an 81 XS650S and I just rebuild my petcock but the damn thing is still leaking and I know that its the spring that operates the diaphragm that's the problem, Yamaha design flaw that was never fixed. Now I am not going to live with a standard type petcock on my bike so I was wondering if any one knows where to get the correct spring or can give me a spring tension spec so I can get something at the hardware store.

Unfortunately I have no specific idea. Hopefully someone else can help. I am of course assuming that you have tried your local dealers and/or some reputable bike shops...

buddy of mine did the same thing with his XS650...he ended up just putting in a lawn mower valve in the fuel line and uses that as his petcock. He's super cheap though. Definitely a rigged job but it works.

What's wrong with a "regular" petcock? Obviously more reliable.
